“The Alexander Technique is a method of mind/body integration which leads to ease of movement and awareness. It leads us to a place of choice about our reactions to stimulus, whether the stimulus is an external event, a thought, a feeling or a sensation(including chronic and acute pain). ”
The Alexander Technique is usually taught in private lessons. With the help of the teacher’s verbal guidance and light informative touch, the student discovers excess tensions and movement patterns that are constricting or result in pain, and then learns to release them, leading to a light, expansive Sense of Self.
Through a series of lessons, the student’s sensory awareness improves and he/she learns how to move with greater freedom and ease.
Sensations become livelier, thinking becomes clearer, and feelings are more accessible.
